After several successful years in business, Hyak Photography found its niche as one of Washington State’s most respected wedding and boudoir studios. In late 2014 (and in tandem with an overall rebrand), Hyak asked me to design their first-ever print brochure created specifically for bridal and boudoir customers.
The 16-page piece contained spreads showcasing Hyak’s work, and was interspersed with articles targeted to the specific concerns of bridal/boudoir clients. To distinguish Hyak’s brochure from others in the industry, I took the unusual step of breaking up significant images into smaller snapshots that, as a collage, formed a larger whole…a theme that began on the cover and continued throughout the brochure. The traditional design rule of thumb when working with photography is to let nothing get in the way of a great image…but in this case, doing exactly the opposite allowed us to visually set Hyak’s work apart. Getting noticed is the first step to getting business.
