When the Long Mountain Outfitters Store in Henderson, NV changed its name to “The LMO Gun Store,” it was time for a new look and a new website. I was commissioned not only to come up with the store’s new branding, but also to design from scratch a functioning demo of their new site, including the basic elements of an online store
It was understood from the very beginning that my involvement in the project would end with the submission and subsequent approval of my demo site; the production of the final site was in the hands of LMO’s IT department. As such, the finished site (opens in new tab) *does* feature my code, but does not reflect any work on my part post-demo submission.
My demo site (link opens in new tab) is completely hand-coded and features two jQuery sliders; one is site-wide and cycles through featured images, and the other is a product rotator a la Amazon.com (as per my instructions). For product pages, I designed two layouts; one for products with portrait-oriented images (books, magazines) and one for products with landscape-oriented images (guns, parts). The font used in the menus and headers is custom-rendered with Cufón.
All links on the site are functional, but the pages themselves contain only placeholder content and product images. Store process and account pages are dummies.
LMO GUN STORE DEMO SITE
Note: since completing this project, LMO Gun Store has been renamed “Gun Mountain.” Their website is still based on my original demo site code, but many of my placeholder images have not been replaced. Otherwise, I have nothing to do with Gun Mountain’s current branding or site.
